The 2025 season brought a lot of good for the Central Coosa football team. After 10 years, the Cougars broke their decade-long streak of missing the playoffs. Ultimately, the year ended with a first round loss to Luverne, yet still it was a historic season to say the least.

However, this coming season presents the Cougars with a new challenge — and a new region. After the AHSAA reclassification announcement, Central Coosa remained in Class 2A along with some other familiar regional foes. In 2026, Central Coosa will play in Class 2A Region 4 along with Horseshoe Bend, Ranburne, Reeltown and Lanett, which were the Cougars’ region foes a year ago. The newly appointed teams include Dadeville, Randolph County and B.B. Comer, which were all members of Class 3A last year.
