Three early wins over the Central Coosa Cougars meant all that was left between the Horseshoe Bend baseball team was the Class 2A No. 6-ranked Ranburne Bulldogs for the Class 2A Area 8 title. 

In the penultimate match for the area crown, the Generals fell in both games to Ranburne, 9-4 and 15-2 — securing their spot in the playoffs while also finishing as the area runner-up.Â
