Horseshoe Bend School graduate becomes three-time Emmy nominee

Horseshoe Bend School alumna Angelica Butine has been nominated for an Emmy three times, winning once in 2023. 

While working as a morning reporter and news anchor at KLPC in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Butine created a lifestyle series entitled “Gotta Eat.” In her episodes, Butine said she would showcase different restaurants in southwest Louisiana and review the food, but her coverage did not stop there. Her series dived into the owners of the restaurants. Her episodes covered why each owner decided to open their restaurant and what inspired their dishes. Butine said her boss asked her if she had a speech prepared because she had a feeling Butine would win.
