Despite either campus being separated by 17 miles and about 20 minutes down Highway 280, the Benjamin Russell softball team has not played against Dadeville in the past five years.

Just by proximity, many of the girls know each other and possibly even played with one another through the travel ball circuit. However, five years did not allow for the Tallapoosa County rivalry to die down one bit. Meaning, there was some subtle animosity between one another leading up to the game and energy was high.
