While the Town of New Site’s police chief Philip Weddle announced his retirement months ago, the council honored its longtime law man at the town council meeting Tuesday night.

New Site police chief Philip Weddle, center, was honored by the town and Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett this week on his retirement.

“We had a good turnout for Philip,” New Site Mayor Phil Blasingame said. “He has served this town well. He was here 14 total years, nine as chief.”
