Officials are urging people to stay calm in the wake of a rabid fox attack that left one local woman hospitalized earlier this week.
“We’re classifying this as an isolated case,” animal control officer Ken Vernon said. “Rabies is always out there. The problem is we just have to find it and it usually finds us before we find it.”

today along a stalled frontal boundary draped across Central
Alabama. High confidence exists for slow-moving storms capable of
producing very heavy rainfall on top of already saturated soils for
locations within the watch area.

Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa and Walker.
* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT this morning through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks
and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
