25 years later, a book is born

Author Mary Helen Brown comes to the Dadeville Performing Arts Center with the collaboration of the Dadeville Public Library to discuss her first novel “Headed for Home.”

Sometimes a character is so life-like you can’t get them out of your head. At least that was the case for author Mary Helen Brown.

Decades ago, Brown heard a story about someone dying because a tombstone fell on them and she thought, “What an interesting way to start a book.” She wrote the first chapter and then put it away for 25 years.
