Alex City’s BBC celebrates Juneteenth

As part of the Juneteenth celebration, the Black Business Council also had drummers come out and play African music for the libation ceremony.

For the second year in a row, Alexander City’s Black Business Council hosted its Juneteenth event. Juneteenth is a federal holiday that marks the end of slavery and commemorates  when the Emancipation Proclamation reached all parts of the United States in 1865.

To start the event, the council had a libation ceremony with the Natures Garden for Victory and Peace Sister Circle Collective from Tuskegee. The Sister Circle Collective also spoke about the history of Juneteenth and why it's a holiday.
