Alexander City Winn-Dixie safe for now as parent company announces bankruptcy

The local Winn-Dixie in Alexander City is safe for now as it is not on the list of underperforming stores set for immediate closure following the parent company’s announcement of bankruptcy.

Winn-Dixie’s parent company Southeastern Grocers will close 94 stores as it files for Chapter 11 bank bankruptcy.

The Alexander City location is not one of the nine Alabama stores it plans to close, something Alexander City Chamber of Commerce President Ed Collari is proud of.
