Cicadas of Brood XIX have red eyes and clear wings with orange veins. Their bodies are dark and about ¾ inch long.

Residents of Tallapoosa County may have heard a strange noise in the last week. That low hum is the chorus of cicadas.

Citizens can expect to see the number of cicadas increase over the next two weeks, and many residents of the area have reported seeing some already.
