Cody Buzby receives top honor at ACMS

Cody Buzby has taught at Alexander City Middle School for the last three years; however, teaching was not always his vocation. From commercial fishing to working in criminal statistics to being a chef and working for nonprofit organizations, Buzby has tried it all. However, one thing has always stayed the same — he felt a calling to teach.

Now that he has been a teacher for four years, Buzby’s calling has made itself evident. Over the last year, Buzby was juggling teaching, graduate school and being a full-time father. Despite managing multiple responsibilities, Buzby’s efforts earned him the title of this year’s Teacher of the Year.
