Ronnie “Flip” Russell currently sits in the Tallapoosa County Jail awaiting transfer to the Alabama Department of Corrections for a life sentence after being found guilty of trafficking opium this summer, but it hasn’t stopped his fight.

Russell filed motions with the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court without his attorney seeking multiple indictments of drug charges be dismissed which he has yet to be tried on because Russell said he was never served papers and that was a violation of his due process guaranteed under the 14th Amendment. He stood before Fifth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Steve Perryman and said he was unaware he had been indicted 20 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
