Although Andrew Keith Franklin, 49, of Dothan, won’t be behind bars, he will spend two years in Alabama Department of Corrections custody as part of a plea deal reached May 7 in connection with a meth lab explosion in 2019 in Stillwaters.

According to 5th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Segrest, Franklin pleaded guilty to a 10-year split sentence, meaning he was sentenced to 10 years but it was split, requiring Franklin to serve only two. His two-year term will be served in Community Corrections which is an out of prison sentence but Franklin is still in the custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections.
