Local service club celebrates two years

Many local clubs are historically known for giving back to the community, but several clubs have gotten a more recent start to serving citizens of Alexander City.

Formed two years ago, the Lake Martin Civitan Club started in Alexander City to give back to both the younger and older generations of the community. The local club is a branch of Civitan International. In the last two years alone, the club has completed ramp building projects for otherwise homebound adults, assisted in installing a new roof for local first responders facing health issues and sponsoring campers to Camp ASCCA, according to president Alicia Homburger. The club has made these projects possible through fundraising efforts.
