Mt. Lovely raises funds for Texas Disaster Relief

Abigail Murphy / TPI Mount Lovely Baptist Church outreach coordinator Ray Harris is preparing burgers for a fundraiser to go toward the Texas Disaster Relief Fund.

Tragedy struck Central Texas the weekend of July 4, when a life-threatening flash flood resulted in dozens of reported deaths. Twenty-seven of these deaths were young girls and staff members of Camp Mystic.

Those in Tallapoosa County are finding ways to help. This past Saturday, Camp Hill’s Mt. Lovely Missionary Baptist Church hosted a fundraiser for proceeds to go toward the Texas Disaster Relief Fund. The fundraiser started at 11 a.m. and lasted the rest of the afternoon. They were serving macaroni and cheese, double cheeseburgers, Chick-fil-A sandwiches, chips, barbecue chicken and drinks.
