With former Alexander City Schools superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes Jr.’s last day being Oct. 30, the ACS board of education has several state laws it will need to follow before hiring Reyes’ replacement.

The Code of Alabama Title 16 covers all aspects of education including superintendents, school boards, hiring teachers and compensation. The code states the city BOE has 90 days to announce the open superintendent vacancy publicly.
