New business opens along Highway 49 in Dadeville

What started as backyard cookouts during the pandemic has grown into a thriving outdoor living business — and now it's making its way to Lake Martin.

Lynn and Tracy Winfrey, owners of Backyard Dreams & Design, launched their venture in 2021 after discovering a local need for elevated outdoor spaces. With restaurants shuttered and families spending more time at home due to the pandemic, the couple began hosting outdoor meals for friends, sparking an idea that would take root quickly.
