Parks and Recreation holds seventh annual PCA rodeo
Cowboys and cowgirls rode out of the West and into the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex Friday and Saturday for the Lake Martin Area Rodeo.
“I thought it was a great weekend,” said Jennifer Baker, Alexander City Parks and Recreation program director. “Everybody seemed to have a great time.”
An official Professional Cowboy Association event, the rodeo comprised eight main events: barrel racing, steer wrestling, saddle riding, bareback riding, breakaway roping, team roping, bull riding and calf roping.
Dust flew as hooves thudded back and forth in the arena at the Sportplex.
The amount raised for Relay for Life is not yet totaled, but Baker said they had a great turnout.
“I’m sure we raised some money,” Baker said. “I appreciate everybody that came out and supported it.”
According to the PCA website, the total prize money awarded was $15,040.
