Alabama senator Jay Hovey said one of the major points of interest for the legislative session was the budget for this fiscal year.

As soon as the session started, the governor called the legislature into a special session. The session focused on allocating the American Rescue Plan Act funds from the federal government, which ultimately went to broadband, infrastructure, water, sewage and healthcare across the state.
