Child abuse happens everywhere, even in Tallapoosa County. So it’s important to create awareness and when you see something, say something. 

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Tallapoosa County Department of Human Resources received 385 reports in 2024. Out of those reports, 43 cases were indicated — meaning there was enough evidence for an alleged child abuse or neglect case. Supervisor Angie Scott said DHR often works hand-in-hand with law enforcement and the district attorney’s office during cases or reports.
