The Alabama Department of Human Resources announced a new system enhancement that automatically defaults all EBT cards to block out-of-state and online transactions. This change will take effect Jan. 22, according to a press release.
While these transaction blocks are in place, EBT cards will automatically be placed in a “Block High-Risk Transaction” card status and purchases cannot be made in stores outside of Alabama or online. If a cardholder wishes to make a purchase outside of Alabama or online, they must first unlock their card via the ConnectEBT Mobile App, ConnectEBT website or the EBT Customer Service phone number.
