The winners for the local round of this year's Elks Hoop Shoot: AJ Moon won for the 8-9 boys category, Solomon Thomas Jr. won in 10-11 boys, Ryan Jones won in 12-13 boys, Amiyah Smith won in 10-11 girls and Julia Kison won in 12-13 girls.

This weekend, the Alexander City Elks Lodge hosted its annual Hoop Shoot competition for youth around the area.

The 51st edition of the national free throw shooting competition saw five area kids ages eight to 13 make their way through the local round and onto the district competition.
