It’s hard to believe that I have already waded through six of the 12 teams in my SEC preview, isn’t it? That means we are six weeks closer to having the toe meet the leather in 2009. Of course, that also means there are six teams left, and today I am going to tackle Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs have always been the anti-Vanderbilt to me. While both teams usually dwell in the SEC cellar, the commonalities stop there. Vandy is known for its rigorous admissions standards while Mississippi State is certainly not. Everyone wants to play the Commodores late in the season when their lack of depth usually catches up to them. Meanwhile, Miss State is more feared in November because of their rugged style of play. Vandy is considered the brain of the league where Miss State is more of the brute.
