There is always going to be a time in the season when things go awry — and for the Benjamin Russell girls basketball team, it took only one game.

After opening the year with a victory over Talladega, 61-29, earlier in the week, the Wildcats were down three starters due to injury or sickness. But even with an early onset of adversity, it was the freshman class that stepped up to the plate on Thursday.
