Hypothesis. It’s a word rarely used except in the scientific world. I only remember it from a few classes I had in college. I never use it – except now – because to me, there is no better word that describes the decision-making process of an angler.

“Hypothesis” has a fairly complicated definition. You might want to Google it for kicks. But, the best definition and the one I remember the best is that it means an “educated guess.” Each and every moment on the water, I – and anyone else that fishes – is making an educated guess about where the fish are and how we should try to catch them.
