Just south of Eclectic on Georgia Road, a new family-run business that sprouted last year has become an increasingly popular destination for those who want locally farmed meat and produce for the dinner table. Chris George treats customers to fresh produce, pastries and meat at the farm store he opened last spring. George, who understands the benefits of healthy eating, realized upon moving to the area in 2005 that there was an absence of farmers selling directly to consumers. With that, he, alongside his stepmother Carol George, took a chance that seems to be paying off.

“When I got here, I realized there wasn’t anybody in the area raising animals for meat and doing it the way I’m doing it. When we started, we knew we didn’t want to do it commercially. We wanted to put more of an emphasis on quality versus quantity,” George said.
