Distractions and inexperience were the two main causes of many of the wrecks involving teen drivers in 2008, according to numbers released by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

Of the 18,925 crashes involving at-fault drivers ages 15 to 19 in 2008, 17.18 percent of those wrecks were caused by the driver not being in control of the vehicle, which DPS spokesman Cpl. Steve Jarrett said is most commonly caused by distractions.
