Historic buildings across the country are falling into disarray, but thanks to the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation, one turn of the century Dadeville home may not fade into memory.

The Lewis Young House, a Dadeville home built in 1900, was one of 12 buildings and places put on the 2006 Places in Peril list, which is sponsored by the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation. “This is the first time Tallapoosa County has ever had one (on the list),” said Will Ponder of the Tallapoossee Historical Society. Other places on the list include homes in Tuscaloosa and Ashville, as well as historical sites like Fort Morgan in Baldwin County and Fort Cusseta in Chambers County.
