This month, Lake Martin Living magazine begins a series exploring the historical markers that dot our landscape. There are more than 20 historical markers in Tallapoosa County alone, and Will Ponder, president of the Tallapoosee Historical Society, considers it a mission to educate people on these markers and the stories they represent.

The first in the series is located at the corner of North Broadnax Street and Cussetta Street in downtown Dadeville, just outside the Tallapoosa County Historical Museum.
