Country Music Television stands by its list. But CMT’s anemic attempt to name the top 100 country songs was so off the mark that I vacillate between indignation and a hesitation even to dignify it with a mention.

Sure, there’s room in such an ambitious list for a subjective shuffle of two or three classics, but CMT missed the best by a country mile.
