Ordinance aims to block Internet sweepstakes halls

The growing industry of Internet gaming and sweepstakes businesses across the Lake Martin area will apparently stop at the city limits of Alexander City thanks to a new ordinance passed by the city council Monday night.

In a unanimous vote, the council adopted restrictions on sweepstake businesses which may prevent those type businesses from ever taking shape in the city.
