Roger Blum, age 86, passed away Sept. 16, 2007. Born Sept. 23, 1920 in Brumath, France, Mr. Blum came to America in 1939 to fulfill his many dreams. After serving in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1952-44, he returned to Birmingham where he met and married his true love for the past 60 years, Evelyn. He and Evelyn retired to Alexander City in 1978, then returned to Birmingham in 2004. He was past president and a lifetime member of the Mountain Brook Elks Lodge. He has been an active member of Temple Emanu-El for over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn and children: Gerard “Butch” (Joanne) Blum, Denise (Wayne) Lewis, Harriet (Mike) Bagby and Michael (Suzanne) Blum; grandchildren: Jay and Lori Blum, Nathan (Kim) Lewis, Carolyn and Sara Lewis, Kelli (Wade) Martin, Meredith and Paige Bagby, Alexandra Catherine and Caroline Blum; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Allyson, and Connor Lewis; nieces, Annick (Michel) Levy and Jocelyn Caen of Metz, France.
