Finally, a native wildlife species I can get excited about – the Black Bear (Ursus americanus), has shown up in Tallapoosa County. While there have always been small populations of these animals in Mobile and Washington counties, they have rarely been seen farther north in the state; however, recently, Tallapoosa and surrounding counties have been the chosen walking paths for these gentle, secretive animals.
