Thornton announces candidacy for probate judge

John Thornton, an attorney for Renau and Thornton in Wetumpka, has served 21 years as munipal judge in Wetumpka and recently announced his candidacy for Elmore County probate judge.

Elmore County Probate Judge John Enslen, nearing the end of his one and only tenure in that position, has been vocal about his belief that Elmore County’s next probate judge – the person who follows in his footsteps – should be a licensed practicing attorney.

And while Wetumpka Municipal Judge and Renau and Thornton attorney John Thornton, who recently announced his desire to run for Elmore County probate judge, would meet that qualification, he doesn’t agree that it should be a requirement.
