HARTFORD, Conn. -- A Connecticut man has pleaded guilty to being a con man.

Matthew Harwood, 42, of Stratford, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Michael P. Shea to organizing a widespread shoplifting and fencing operation that cost retailers nearly $4 million.
