Garett Steele Hancock, age 18, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. Garett was born in New Orleans on Oct. 6, 1996. He grew up in the Lake Martin area and was a senior at Frisco High School in Texas.

A wonderful young man, Garett had a great sense of humor and was quick with a smile. His friends and family will remember him as a generous, sensitive, cool and determined person. He was passionate about working on his car, traveling and hiking in Seattle. Garett was a natural athlete and excelled at every sport in which he participated, including baseball, soccer and mixed martial arts. He enjoyed snowboarding and skiing. On Lake Martin, he rode surfboards, wake skates, wake boards and skis. He was always up for the thrill of leaping from the top of Chimney Rock. Garett was a very bright student and was loved by his teachers. He had been accepted to attend Auburn University for the Fall 2015 semester to study physics.
