Mrs. Baker passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011 at her son, Chris’ residence.  She was born on July 17, 1917 in Wynyard, Tasmania-Australia to Hedley James and Christina Edith Chilcott James. She always spoke fondly of her youth when she would ride the family horse and ride with her youngest brother Max, on his motorcycle.  Mrs. Baker was the tenth child of thirteen.  Mrs. Baker met her husband on a street car in Melbourne, Australia.  They were later married October 9, 1942 in South Yarra, a suburb of Melbourne.  Following WWII, in 1946 she and her son Chris, age two, came to the U.S. on a troop ship carring GIs and war brides.  She never returned home to Australia, but later had visits from a sister and nieces.  She was known to be very meticulous at her work and was a sewing operator at Russell Corporation for 42 years until she retired at the age of 79, making her the oldest Russell employee at that time.  She was a charter member of Trinity United MethodistChurch.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and loved flower gardening.
