Funeral service for Mr. William Donald “Don” Thornell, age 62, of Alexander City, will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Thornell passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 19, 1947 in Alexander City to William Olney Thornell and Mary Emma Black Smith. Don loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a Certified Public Accountant and loved taking care of his clients. Don was a family man. He loved his family very much and cherished the times the family could be together. He also loved his friends and enjoyed cooking out and watching ballgames with them. Don was very friendly and outgoing, had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was a workaholic and enjoyed working in his yard. He also enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach. Don was a diehard Alabama fan and was a wonderful collection of Alabama memorabilia.
