When Kirby Smart was hired in Athens to replace Mark Richt, Georgia led the deep South's oldest rivalry by one game with a record of 56-55-8. After Saturday's 27-20 victory on Pat Dye Field, Smart extended his record against the Tigers to 8-1. The lone victory for Auburn coming in 2017.

Five of the losses have been by 17 points or more. Freshman Bo Nix led a furious second-half comeback in 2019 down 21-0, but still came up a touchdown short. Georgia has dominated Auburn in recent years. That's the simple truth of the matter.
