Numerous examples of the, um, “concept” that is the focus of this essay are going to be cited herein, but a legendary Western Swing band that begot icons like Bob Wills and Milton Brown is cited in the title because the band’s web site proclaims the aggregation to be “the longest-running band in the history of recorded music (having been founded in 1931).”
