The battle over prayer in public schools has raged in our country for many years. Because of the longevity of this conflict, just about everyone has an opinion on the subject.

In the past, I’ve never had a personal problem with religious speech in public schools. After all, I grew up in a conservative protestant church and hearing a prayer over the school loudspeaker in the morning never bothered me in the least bit.
