ZZ TOP’s recent performance at the Montgomery Performing Arts Center validated, once again, the propensity of music fans to stay attuned to the songs and bands that were popular when said fans were coming of age. Most of the attendees seemed to be Boomers, and some brought their offspring with them.

The warmup band was an aggregation called the Boxmasters. They would probably be classified as being in the “Americana” music genre (which seems to be a catch-all category for rock with country and folk influences), and their skinny lead singer looked exactly like Billy Bob Thornton…because it was Billy Bob Thornton.
