The Elmore County baseball team ran the gauntlet last week, with three games against high level opponents. On Thursday, the Panthers faced the Holtville Bulldogs for a rivalry game, winning 7-2 after seven innings of stiff competition.

After keeping ECHS to zero runs in the top of the first, the Bulldogs started off the offense, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a triple from Madison Curry. The Bulldogs kept ECHS from scoring until the fourth inning, in large part due to good defense and a strong pitching effort from Holtville’s starter Gage Nelson, who accumulated eight strikeouts in six innings.
