On Friday, Gov. Kay Ivey and House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) jointly filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against the Alabama High School Athletic Association in Montgomery County Circuit Court.

The restraining order prohibits AHSAA from unlawfully denying eligibility for participation in AHSAA-sanctioned athletic events based solely on a student athlete’s status as a Creating Hope and Opportunity for Our Students' Education Act participating student, according to court documents.
