Mustangs show flashes in play date

Stanhope Elmore’s volleyball team attended a play date hosted by Elmore County last Thursday, in the Mustangs’ first opportunity to test themselves since the end of last season. According to SEHS coach Flavia Freeney, summer workouts have been very productive although only a few players are making time to be in attendance with the team consistently, as summer jobs and other responsibilities get in the way. 

“What I saw, I’m very happy with,” Freeney said of the Mustangs’ play date performance. “I like how they’re working to know each other, as far as being on the court, and how they know where to move, who to pass to and figuring things out. What I love about play dates is that these girls are smart and they’re good athletes. So basically, you put them in that position, and they’re going to be able to start working it out and figuring it out.”
