When a team finds itself in the top five teams in the state, they lose their identity as the hunters and become the hunted. The goal shifts from gaining ground to protecting the ground they’ve already claimed. 

Stanhope Elmore’s girls basketball team – ranked No. 5 in Class 6A by the Alabama Sports Writers Association – picked up another big-time win on the road in area play at rival Wetumpka on Friday night, 62-57. In one of the toughest road environments the Mustangs have played in since the Prattville game earlier this season, SEHS held on to win in spite of some struggles on offense in the first half.
