Stanhope Elmore’s William Whitlow Jr. is hoping to join the fewer than 2% of college athletes that continue their careers to the professional level. After spending five years at the University of Memphis, Whitlow Jr. announced his decision to declare for the draft via social media.Â
As a Mustang, he was a multi-year starter on both sides of the football, although he specialized as a defensive lineman. Whitlow’s stature – six-foot-two and 260 pounds – made him a perfect halfback, barreling through the line of scrimmage and breaking tackles along the way. His defensive performance, however, earned him a Defensive Player of the Year nod in 2020.Â
