It’s always hard to gauge what a team with a new head coach and several new players is capable of, especially before that team has played a single down of football under the Friday night lights. That may be the case for many teams, including Edgewood Academy, which will start the 2026 season under head coach Gregg Baker. Baker was brought on to coach the Wildcats in January, coming in with many years of head coaching experience at the collegiate level, as well as in public and private schools in Alabama. Historically, Edgewood has been one of the most dominant programs in the AISA, although that has not been the case recently in football. Baker has plans to make sure that becomes a reality once again. He plans to accomplish that goal with the new and returning players at Edgewood.
