Wetumpka claims area championship in overtime thriller

The Wetumpka Indians defeated Percy Julian in the AHSAA Class 6A Area 4 tournament championship in overtime, 78-77. 

The game was a back-and-forth, offensive brawl. Wetumpka maintained a narrow lead through the first half, with a 27-25 halftime score. The lead stayed narrow through overtime, until the Indians hit a rhythm and picked up a six-point lead with two minutes to go. Percy Julian narrowed the deficit to two points with a last second layup but it was too little too late for the Phoenix. To the cheers of the home crowd, the Indians claimed their second consecutive Area 4 title.
