Former ADOC employee still held on $4.5 million bond

It took two days, but the Alabama Department of Corrections arrested a former corrections officer for attempting to bring drugs and contraband into the Elmore Correctional Facility.

Details of the alleged crime came out in a preliminary hearing last week before Elmore County District Court Judge Glen Goggans. ADOC investigator Terry White testified an investigation of Niana Longmire, 23, of Montgomery, started when ADOC received information she had been smuggling items into the state prison.
